SPARK Early Literacy reading intervention has been part of BGCGM since 2005. We serve over 250 K5–3 students across Milwaukee schools with 30-minute one-on-one tutoring sessions. More than 50 tutors, trained by licensed teachers, deliver tailored phonics instruction.

Program Information
SPARK Early Literacy reading intervention has been part of BGCGM since 2005. We serve over 250 K5–3 students across Milwaukee schools with 30-minute one-on-one tutoring sessions. More than 50 tutors, trained by licensed teachers, deliver tailored phonics instruction. SPARK also includes strong family engagement, which supports parents in helping children reach academic reading goals. Through consistent relationships and innovative, evidence-based instructional practices, we are creating an impact in literacy. The evaluation results prove the program works to improve reading scores for students in K5-3rd grade.
