Each year, one remarkable member rises above—a beacon of hope and inspiration—chosen to represent millions of youth nationwide. As the National Youth of the Year, they become a powerful voice, shining a light on the potential and promise of all young people and inspiring a future filled with possibility.

Every program is thoughtfully designed to meet kids and teens where they are—building confidence, curiosity, and skills that grow with them. Whether they’re exploring leadership, boosting academic success, learning life skills, or preparing for their future, each experience connects to one of our five core areas of growth. Some programs require sign-up, and many are created or guided by Team MarVan to ensure high-quality, meaningful experiences that make a lasting impact.

Youth of the Year inspires young people to discover their leadership potential by building confidence, self-awareness, and essential life skills through powerful, meaningful experiences both inside and beyond the Club. This program nurtures teens’ ability to lead themselves and others, fostering teamwork and a deep sense of community responsibility. As a result, teens are prepared not just to succeed but to become passionate, influential leaders who make a positive difference in their schools, workplaces, and communities.
Process Timeline
- October – First YOY workshop and Fiserv Forum kick-off
- November – YOY Kohl’s shopping trip
- December – YOY mock competition, announcement party, and photo shoot
- March – State competition for YOY winner
- April – Milwaukee Bucks recognition game
- June – YOY community service project
